David LaChapelle. I Believe in Miracles

LaChapelle’s art stems from a decisive break with the present, motivated by the need to define a possible world, built on a new relationship between ethics and aesthetics, because art is an investment in humanity.

This new narrative inspires the Mudec exhibition I Believe in Miracles and the catalog: the inimitable, spectacular images by the American photographer and artist guide readers on a path of awareness, starting with the ineradicable experience of the sacred, through a series of stages that compel a confrontation with some of the unresolved knots of our time, and finally arriving, having left behind the uncertainties and darkness of the present, at a new Eden, in which man and nature celebrate an agreement based on mutual respect.

This is the miracle in which LaChapelle asks us to believe, made possible by love free of all constraints and prejudices, and by beauty, which nurture the new awareness to which we are all called, freeing us from the alienation that is endangering our very survival.

Photographs, installations, videos, works on glass and lightboxes are the main languages that the artist’s inexhaustible imagination uses, to capture the viewer and the reader, drawing them into his own fantasy world. The miracle of art.
