“In 1973 Mina, whom I had recently met, knowing that I was drawing and painting, asked me to take photographs of her while recording some Carosels; I had never photographed before. So I asked a photography enthusiast friend for a Nikon. And my first photographs were immediately used for the cover of a double LP by Mina (Fruits and Vegetables/Amanti di Valore) and I became a photographer within only two months. I have collected here the photographs taken over about fifty years of the most important Italian singers and songwriters: from Mina (the first one, the first in everything) to Vasco Rossi, from Patty Pravo to Renato Zero, from Riccardo Cocciante to Marcella Bella, from Claudio Baglioni to Ornella Vanoni, from Fiorella Mannoia to Zucchero, from Mia Martini to Loredana Bertè, from Pooh to Achille Lauro, and many more…”
A long imaginative journey that tells the story of the protagonists of pop music through the portraits made for so many record covers that have entered the homes of those who love great Italian music. Historical covers but also new portraits, made especially for this book, with images of the new heroes of our stave. It is a great honor for me to be able to reconstruct with portraits the artistic history of half a century of Italian Music.
