Martin Parr

The exhibition Short & Sweet presents more than 60 shots, chosen and selected by Martin Parr, accompanied by installation elements and wall papers, with the intention of tracing his long career.

Through his best-known projects, his unprecedented documentary style, aimed at the social and cultural inconsistencies of the Western world, especially Europe, is highlighted, producing a photographic chronicle unfiltered and outside rhetoric. Beginning with the youthful black-and-white series “Non-Conformist” (1975-1980) set in London and the Yorkshire suburbs, and “Bad Weather,” in which Parr threw himself under downpours in England and Ireland to document people’s reactions to the weather; to celebrated color projects such as “The Last Resort,” an outrageous and bitterly ironic reportage conducted by the photographer on the beaches of Brighton, a seaside suburb of Liverpool, in the mid-1980s, and “Common Sense.”
