Gae Aulenti

The sets designed by Gae Aulenti create a new stage space by going beyond the traditional conventions of theatrical performance.

This volume offers a never-before-seen overview of Gae Aulenti’s theatrical activity and draws new perspectives on his entire production, investigating the documentation held at the Gae Aulenti Archive, which includes the plates, sketches, notes, texts analyzed and studied, as well as a wealth of iconographic material.

The research involved two departments of the Brera Academy (the School of Scenography and the School of Communication and Enhancement of the Artistic Heritage), the Gae Aulenti Archives and the Teatro alla Scala Archives, beginning to unveil the wealth of themes and possibilities for in-depth study offered by this precious and varied material.
