ART FROM INSIDE. Capolavori svelati tra arte e scienza

Catalog of the exhibition at the Royal Palace of Milan from October 9, 2025 to January 6, 2026

What lies behind a work of art?
Behind-the-scenes of Italian art masterpieces through the most advanced imaging technologies.

The exhibition Art from Inside. Masterpieces Unveiled Between Art and Science (Palazzo Reale, Milan, Oct. 9, 2025-Jan. 6, 2026), sponsored by Fondazione Bracco, explores the interaction between art and science through the most advanced noninvasive diagnostic imaging techniques.

The exhibition presents eight masterpieces of Italian art between the 15th and 17th centuries, analyzed with methodologies such as X-ray, infrared, ultraviolet, hyperspectral imaging and spectroscopy. Such technologies-derived from medical diagnostics-allow to reveal elements invisible to the human eye: preparatory drawings, pentimenti, materials and painting techniques, contributing to the knowledge, conservation and enhancement of the artistic heritage.

An immersive, multidisciplinary experience that shows how science can unlock the “secret life” of artworks, restoring them in their material and historical complexity.
