Along the lines of Stefano Zuffi and Chiara Savino’s Lives of Great Artists, published by 24 ORE Cultura in 2018, this volume offers children the lives of fifty great composers whose works have made music history. Like almost all artists, musicians are often fascinating, sometimes bizarre, but always interesting personalities whose inspiration is inextricably intertwined with the events they experienced.

Their lives read like a compelling novel, which the author – a music lover since her teens and a longtime contributor to the programs of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala and Venice’s Palazzetto Bru Zane – recounts with enthusiasm and participation, highlighting the human aspect of these greats, whose sublime notes have enriched the lives of each of us.

Each life is introduced by a portrait created especially for this volume by illustrator Silvia Marinelli.

ARIANNA GHILARDOTTI – An editor and translator specializing in art, music and poetry, she is a regular contributor to La Scala Theater programs and exhibition catalogs. She is an expert in genealogy, dynasty history and Victorian literature.

SILVIA MARINELLI – She trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts as a set and costume designer. Today she works as a freelancer primarily for publishing, advertising, and museum visual communication.
