The capsule celebrating a timeless icon

A true signature line born from the meeting of two artists: Frida Kahlo, a painter and icon of 20th-century Mexican art, and Vanna Vinci, an Italian illustrator and cartoonist who has repeatedly lent her pencil to pay tribute to great women and artists. The capsule I’m Frida Collection, produced by art&design24, is the culmination of a journey that began in 2016 with the publication of the graphic novel Frida Kahlo. Amoral operetta in comics. An international publishing case, with more than 25,000 copies sold in Italy, translated into 5 languages (Korean, English, German, French, Spanish) and the subject of an updated and enriched edition in 2022.

The idea of bringing these illustrations to life in a line of signature objects was born in 2018, on the occasion of the exhibition Frida Kahlo. Beyond the Myth , held at Mudec in Milan, which received a great response from the public. Thousands of pieces were sold in the four-month exhibition, not only because of the iconicity of the character, but because of the ability to create original and innovative art objects that went beyond the classic museum gift.

This case history gave rise to a full-fledged capsule, designed by Vanna Vinci in collaboration with the Frida Kahlo Corporation in 2021: a wide selection of items designed for every age group, including gift ideas, school and office products, clothing and accessories. Among the most iconic pieces are Milagros earrings, a symbol of protection and good luck in Mexican culture, and tote bags and maxi pouches with Frida’s face illustrated by Vanna Vinci.

The brand’s collections

The capsule dedicated to Frida is the first to be produced by art&design24, the 24 ORE Cultura brand born in 2021 from the idea of transforming everyday objects into precious, handcrafted artifacts signed by well-known artists and illustrators. A project realized by taking care of every detail of the production, from the selection of materials with an eye to sustainability, to the packaging with attention to detail, to the display on the shelf.

After the success of the first capsule dedicated to the Mexican artist, a series of collections were created, the latest of which is a tribute to another great artist, an icon of freedom and self-expression: Raffaella Carrà.
