This volume enriches Scheiwiller’s new series dedicated to interviews of prominent figures in the world of culture, and conceived as a multi-voiced reasoning conducted by the editor together with the authors interviewed on the most topical issues.

Following the first three titles on architecture (Fulvio Irace), design (Matteo Vercelloni), and theater (Fabio Francione), in this volume Maurizio Luvizone reflects with fifteen female directors and senior managers of Italian and international museums on the centrality of the female gender in the realization of a new way of doing museums in the world.

Of how the “female gaze” is accompanying contemporary museum management toward a more happiness-oriented vision of audiences, relations with territories, participation, and inclusiveness.

Discussing this with the author are, among others, Frances Morris head of London’s Tate Modern, Gabriella Belli, former director of the Musei Civici in Venice, Giovanna Melandri, former president of MAXXI in Rome, and Andrea Bayer, curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
