Le maschere dell’arte

A playbook for dressing up as a great artist with eleven colorful masks to cut out and wear.

Every self-respecting artist has his or her own way of painting. The faces drawn by Picasso are made of angles and distorted perspectives, Modigliani’s have sweet almond-shaped eyes and long necks, and Roy Lichtenstein’s look like colorful cartoons. Designed to introduce children to the very genre of portraiture, this colorful playbook shows the faces of eleven famous artists in the history of modern art, each redrawn in the style of the painter in question. Thus it will be easier to connect each artist to his or her personal poetics, thanks also to the accompaniment of small descriptive texts. But it doesn’t end there: all portraits have two holes in place of eyes, to be cut out and worn like masks. The game thus continues beyond the book, allowing young readers to transform themselves not only into Picasso, but into a real Cubist portrait. To become – literally – a great artist and a great work of art.
