Capitan Papaia e Greta

A wonderful gift book to help children understand the importance of respecting the environment from Greta Thunberg’s journey.

The book chronicles the journey of the young Swedish activist, who became a symbol of the mobilization of boys and girls around the world around the serious issue of climate change, to reach New York and attend the United Nations summit on climate issues.
The Atlantic crossing, departing from Plymouth, took place on the yacht owned by Pierre Casiraghi, son of Caroline of Monaco and offshore champion Stefano Casiraghi, who took up little warrior Greta’s invitation, offering to accompany her to America on a very low environmental impact trip.
Through Maddalena Gerli’s poetic illustrated plates, the book tells the story from the point of view of the family of the main character, Captain Papaya, Pierre Casiraghi’s alter ego: the dad talks to his two young sons, who complain that he will be absent from home for some time, explaining to them the value of his journey and the importance of the issue of climate change, which directly touches all of us.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated by 24 Hours Culture to the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco — committed since 2006 to the protection of the environment internationally — and will be earmarked for the preservation of Monk Seals in the Mediterranean Sea.

Maddalena Gerli – is a young illustrator. She graduated in 2008 from the European Institute of Design, where she currently works. She has created several children’s books and collaborates with magazines and galleries around the world.
