La metamorfosi della figura<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide is-c24-metadata-columns is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">Picasso did not consider as &#8216;primitive&#8217; the art that inspired him, that moved his creative mind in an unstoppable desire to break new ground, he did not see a &#8216;before&#8217; and an &#8216;after&#8217; in art, there was no &#8216;other&#8217;, &#8216;different&#8217; art: Picasso conceived of it as a timeless Whole. &#8220;<em>There is neither past nor future in art<\/em>. &#8211; He was fond of emphasizing &#8211; <em>If a work of art cannot live always in the present, it has no meaning<\/em>.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pablo Picasso always showed a deep respect for the artistic manifestations of other cultures and other times and was able, more than any artist of his generation, to understand and reinvent them with the noble purpose of giving an impetus and a new path of exploration to universal art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition <strong>&#8220;Picasso. The Metamorphosis of the Figure,&#8221;<\/strong> produced by <strong>24 ORE Cultura &#8211; Gruppo 24 ORE<\/strong> and promoted by the <strong>Municipality of Milan-Cultura<\/strong>, with the contribution of <strong>Fondazione Deloitte<\/strong>, Institutional Partner and under the patronage of the <strong>Embassy of Spain in Italy<\/strong>, traces Picasso&#8217;s very rich production &#8211; from his early works to his later works &#8211; in the light of his love for &#8216;primitive&#8217; artistic sources, for &#8216;primitive art,&#8217; recounting this constant intellectual reworking and the artistic legacy of his vision through a major exhibition project, featuring <strong>more than forty works<\/strong> by the Spanish master, including <strong>paintings<\/strong>, <strong>sculptures<\/strong>, along with <strong>26 drawings and sketches<\/strong> of preparatory studies, from the invaluable <strong>Notebook no. 7<\/strong> granted for the exhibition by the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Foundation &#8211; Museo Casa Natal in Malaga.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fundamental to this exhibition, in fact, is the accompaniment in this absolutely peculiar and unprecedented journey of<strong> all the major Spanish museums that possess Picasso&#8217;s most important collections<\/strong> in what was always his homeland, Spain: first and foremost the <strong>Casa Natal in Malaga<\/strong>, but also the <strong>Picasso Museum in Barcelona<\/strong> and the <strong>Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid<\/strong>, as well as numerous private collectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, it is important to acquaint the public with how <strong>Picasso grasped the essence and meaning of African art<\/strong> and assimilated it into his production throughout his life, from 1906 &#8211; a pivotal year for his production &#8211; until his last works in the 1960s. With his return to &#8220;primitivism,&#8221; around 1925, the artist draws the tools of plastic language from African examples, but also from <strong>Neolithic and proto-Iberian examples<\/strong> (of pre-Roman Spain), takes his cues from Oceanic art, <strong>ancient Egyptian art and that of classical Greece<\/strong> (black-figure vases). Picasso invents transpositions, reshapes figures with disproportionate volumes, in a <strong>constant metamorphosis of figures<\/strong> that often have a strong erotic connotation, and that will govern the evolution of his painting and sculpture, especially in moments of personal or social crisis.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition, curated by <strong>Mal\u00e9n Gual<\/strong>, honorary curator of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona together with <strong>Ricardo Ostal\u00e9<\/strong>, also ideally closes a long 2023 celebration of the 50th anniversary of the painter&#8217;s death with an exhibition that is strongly and intentionally &#8216;Spanish&#8217; in the identity of the project, but &#8216;universal&#8217; at the heart of the artistic vision of Picasso that it proposes to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the duration of the exhibition, a series of three lectures is scheduled to analyze some of the more unknown aspects related to the works of Pablo Picasso, the protagonist of the exhibition at Mudec in Milan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"margin-bottom:0\" id=\"picasso-the-art-of-metamorphosis\">Picasso, the art of metamorphosis<\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">A lecture series to enter the artistic soul of the Spanish painter<\/p>\n\n<p>Metamorphosis in Picasso&#8217;s world is a fundamental part of his artistic journey. Highlights of his literary production-far from genre conventions and spelling rules-will be covered, as well as his 1940s French-language theatrical production and important editorial work in book illustration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>Speaker: Antonio Jim\u00e9nez Mill\u00e1n<\/strong><br\/>He is professor of Romance Literature at the University of Malaga. His non-fiction books include <em>Los poemas de Picasso<\/em>. He has edited the literary works of Pablo Picasso, Louis Aragon, Luis Cernuda, Manuel Altolaguirre and Jos\u00e9 Manuel Caballero Bonald. In 2009 he was curator of the exhibition and author of the catalog     <em>Antonio Machado. Labyrinth of mirrors <\/em>. He translated Jean Cocteau&#8217;s essay <em>Picasso<\/em>. Through the observation of the paradigmatic work of Gauguin, the Fauvism of Matisse and Derain, the Expressionism of Die Br\u00fccke, and, above all, the Cubism of Picasso we will understand how much the discovery of so-called black art in the statuary form conditioned the decisive paradigm shifts in the aesthetic canons of early modernity that led to the break with tradition and the birth of the avant-garde. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>Speaker: Ant\u00f3n Castro<\/strong><br\/>Professor of contemporary art at the University of Vigo and visiting professor at several universities. He has been director of the IPC (Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute) and is a member of AICA-France (International Association of Art Critics). Since 1980, he has curated 120 exhibitions and written about 800 articles on art. Member of the scientific committee of the exhibition     <em>El primer Picasso.
