Awareness of climate change is increasing globally, and the scientific evidence is now incontrovertible: an environmental crisis is underway. This volume presents an overview of contemporary art committed to denouncing the climate emergency and the artists most active on our planet. In five chapters, curators Maja and Reuben Fowkes examine works of art that reflect on the negative impact of the Anthropocene on our world: from landscapes turned into open-air dumps by abstract activity, to the art of small communities most affected by the injustice of climate change. What drives the artists assembled in this book is a burning concern for the Earth and all its inhabitants caught up in this rapidly evolving climate drama. <\/p>\n\n\n

BY<\/strong>Maja and Reuben Fowkes<\/strong> – Curators, art historians, co-directors of the Postsocialist Art Centre (PACT) at the Institute of Advanced Studies, University College London, and co-founders of the Translocal Institute for Contemporary Art, a Budapest-based research center working at the intersection of ecological thinking and contemporary art.
